He was born Feb. 2, 1917, in the town of Maine, the son of the late William and Minnie (Woller) Zastrow. He married Viola Saeger on Sept. 19, 1936 at Grace Lutheran Church, Town of Maine, she survives.
Raymond farmed in the town of Maine from 1936 to 1955. He then worked at Anderson Brothers and Johnson for about one year before starting the Zastow Auto Parts and Wrecker Service in 1957. In 1965, along with his wife, he moved to Wausau and worked as a construction worker for commercial construction until 1979. Raymond enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing cards, most of all he loved working in the woods. He was a member of the Labor Union 1359.
Survivors, besides his wife, Viola, include two daughters, Janet (Vernon) Hahn, Wausau, and their two sons, Jeff and Gary, and Shirley (Arian) Erickson, Wausau, and their children, Wendy, Gina, Chad, and Rhonda (David) Roble; one sister, Alma (Walter) Hanke, Marathon; and two sisters-in-law, Genevieve Zastrow, Schofield, and Silvia Rux, Wausau. He was preceded in death by a sister, Adeline Zastrow, and three brothers, Reno, Art, and Elmer Zastrow.
Services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, June 23, 1992, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau, The Rev Herbert Praeuner will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 9 pm today at Kraemer Funeral Home, Wausau, where at 8:30 pm there will be a Scripture Service. Visitation will be again from 9:30 am Tuesday until time of services at the church.
