This community was made sad Thursday when it received the news that two of their use-to-be neighbors had passed away of heart attacks. Mrs. Ernest Bird was reared at Cedar Creek and had spent most of her early married life in this community. Her husband and his brother, Porter Bird, were the two merchants who gave Bird's Store No. 1 its name. It was known as the Bird Brothers'. Mrs. Bird was a real neighbor and a friend to everyone. She was a good church worker of the community. She has been away for around 20 years, first at Conway, then Formosa, and on to Missouri where she was living at the time of her death.
