She was born December 30, 1915, near Americus, Kansas. She was the 4th child of Sarah May Ely and Andrew Levi Goller. She graduated from Hanston High School and attended Fort Hays State College for one year receiving a teaching certificate. She taught in two, one room schools in Hodgeman County and Hanston Grade School. She belonged to the United Methodist Church, Hanston, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was also a Youth Leader. She was Active in the United Methodist Women, Homemakers Extension Unit and a 4-H Club Leader. She also was a Lunchroom Supervisor and cook for 13 years for the Hanston Schools
On July 17, 1937, she married Roy E. Powell in Hanston. He died January 30, 2002.
Survivors include: a son, Eugene Powell and wife Donna, Conyers, Georgia; a daughter, Coleen Cure and husband James, Hanston; a brother, Dale Goller, Folsom, California; four sisters, Fern Gibbs, Jetmore, Ada Hendrickson, Garden City, Mary King, Riverside, California, Ruth Hoagland, Greeley, Colorado; six grandchildren, Rodney and Darin Cure, Burdett, Keith Cure and wife Renee, and their sons, Kyle and Ryan, Scott City, Matthew Cure, Castle Rock, Colorado, Bryan Cure and wife Kayla, and their daughters, Kaitlyn and Mackenzie, Andover, Douglas Cure, Wichita
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Alva, Andrew and George Goller; two sisters, Eva Williams and Ella Strawn.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Hanston, with Pastor Dennis Fulton presiding. Visitation will be from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Hanston Cemetery, Hanston.
