From interview with Mary Mikesell Dean, Esther's sister: Esther was child-like, small with very tiny feet, wore a size 3 1/2 shoe. She loved to sit with her siblings while they studied. She did learn a few things from them. She would do easy chores like pick up chips for kindling until in 1917 when she had a stroke and never walked again. When her mother died she was placed in the State hospital. Her sister Mary was very upset but could do nothing about it.
It is believed Esther died at the Idaho State Hospital where she had resided for quite a few years.
