Chuck was the youngest child of Henry Oscar Cambron and Eula Hildreth. His mother died when he was four years old. His father and siblings were living in Big Spring, Texas, according to the 1930 US Federal Census. Children listed on that census were:
Fannie Mae (20), Clifford (18), Jack (15), Woodroe (13), Eulalia (10) and Guoin [Yandell Guinn] (4).

He enlisted in the US Army September 4, 1944, in Dallas, Texas. He died at Luzon in August 1945.
