Swayze was a devoted mason. He was a member of the Lonnie Irwin Daylight Lodge No. 750. the Utopia Lodge No. 984 A.F. & A.M., the Helotes Lodge No. 444 R.A.M., Helotes Council No. 362 R. & S.M., and Knights Templar of Texas-San Antonio Commandry No. 7.
He served as Super Excellent Master for San Antonio Council No. 14 R. & S.M. He was a member of the Grand Council of the Order of High Priesthood for the state of Texas, Order of the Silver Trowel of Texas, and the Grand Lodge of Texas A.F. & A.M. He also served as District Deputy in the 53rd Masonic District in 1980.
He also held membership in the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of San Antonio Orient of Texas Harlendale Chapter No. 750 of the Order of Eastern Star, the Utopia Chapter of Eastern Star No. 468, and the Uvalde Chapter of Eastern Star No. 297. He has received several awards for his work in freemasons. He will be dearly missed by all of his coherts and friends.
