Charles George Armagost, Jr., of Warwick (formerly of Paramus, NJ) died on November 3, 2011 at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was 88 years old.
Born on September 4, 1923 in Verona, PA, he was the son of the late Charles George Armagost, Sr. and Fanny Jane Mills Armagost.
He was married to Thelma M. (Terry) Anderson Armagost.
Charles was a Navy World War II veteran, serving with Torpedo Squadron 82 as a Turret Gunner on the USS Bennington. He received six Air Medals and two Distinguished Flying Crosses. A machinist for 40 years, he was an active and founding member of Bergen County Sportsmen, Branch 7. He was a member of Warwick United Methodist Church.
Charlie was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Terry of Warwick; his children: Susan Armagost and her companion Meredith York of Dunedin, FL, Steven Armagost and his wife Ann of Warwick, and Laurie Arbuco and her husband Steven of Warwick; seven grandchildren: Toni and her husband Jamie, Michelle, Julie, Christina, Kristen and her fiancé Aaron, Kaitlyn and her husband Rob, and Michael. He will also be missed by his beloved dog, Suzie.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 6th, from 3-5 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Monday at the funeral home, followed by interment at 12:30 pm in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Warwick Valley Humane Society, PO Box 61, Warwick, NY 10990 or Ecumenical Food Pantry, 135 Forester Ave., Warwick, NY 10990.
