Graveside services for James Raymond Andrus, 86, of Fulton will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Highland Park Cemetery in Mayfield with Rusty Robinson officiating.

Mr. Andrus died at 2:02 p.m. Thursday at Parkway Regional Hospital.

A native of Graves County, he was a graduate of Mayfield High School and attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., where he was captain of the football team. He served as a U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer during World War II. Mr. Andrus was a salesman for Merit Clothing Co. and operated a business in Mayfield. He was also a deacon of First Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Lillian Cooke Andrus; a daughter, Julie Riley Andrus of Kennesaw, Ga.; two stepchildren, Mary Ann Cate of Larchmont, N.Y., and Dr. Ronald C. Cate of Nashville; two grandchildren, Kelly Riley Saba of Sarasota, Fla., and Scarlett Andrus of Kennesaw, Ga.; seven stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Evelyn Riley Andrus; a son, James Raymond Andrus II; a great-granddaughter; and two sisters.

There will be no visitation. Hornbeak Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
