Samuel contiuned his trade, building many of the best homes and buildings in Alma. He constructed the Methodist Church in Alma, Michigan. Samuel married two sisters. When the older sister Emeline died the younger unmarried sister Emily and her young daughter Melissa Blanford (Who late married "the" John Deer) was sent by the Newvills family to care for her 8 Nieces and Nephews. Emily later married Samuel. The Anderson & Deer family history states: Both wives and Samuel and a few of Samuels children and wives are buried in Alma, Michigan in the city cemetery plot under one enormous head stone. The story goes that the Anderson's never finished paying on the stone, therefore there are empty spots on there which they could never use.
