She was a 1954 graduate of Valdese High School.She went on to get a degree in nursing. Jean worked as an R.N. at Valdese Hospital, Western Carolina Center, and Grace Hospital and was a former employee of Hardwoods of Morganton. In 1988 she retired from Broughton Hospital after 17 years there. So much of her life was devoted to the care of others.
Jean is survived by her son;two brothers; two sisters, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Jean died as the result of an accident.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Lucius "Sonny" Garrison, Jr.
The Rev. Don Shuman, the Rev.Todd McCullough, the Rev. William McIntosh, and the Rev.Jim Taber delivered a beautiful memorial service in her beloved First Methodist Church.
Jean was a very active member of FUMC, and her empty seat is a sad reminder than she has gone on before.
