Patrick Sheridan Rites
Rites for Patrick Sheridan, age sixty-one, 631 Prospect street, retired Indianapolis policeman, who died Saturday in St. Francis Hospital, will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic church. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery.

Mr. Sheridan was born in Boone county and had lived in Indianapolis thirty-five years. he had been a member of the police force twenty-seven years at the time of his retirement last spring because of illness.

Mr. Sheridan was appointed to the department October 7, 1908, and had worked as a detective sergeant and patrolman at different times. He was instrumental with Charles Gollnish, detective sergeant, in solving the murder of Ralph Cunningham, feed store owner, in 1925.

Sheridan also assisted in the arrest in 1913 of Fred Schmidt, who confessed more than fifty east side robberies. Schmidt broke jail twice later and is believed to be still at liberty.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Margaret Sheridan; two daughters, the Misses Julia and Margaret Sheridan, and three sons, John, Tom and Phil Sheridan, all of Indianapolis.
