Joyce L. (Knerr) Claubaugh, 91, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Thursday morning, Aug. 7, 2014, in Providence Care Center following a brief illness.

Joyce was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Sandusky, to Ralph and Lucyille (Schneider) Knerr.

Joyce was formerly employed with Sandusky City Schools at the Osborne School cafeteria, and retired from the Erie County Probate Court in 1985 after many years of service. Joyce was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, where she served as church secretary and a Sunday school teacher, she also served on the Fidelis Circle, the funeral luncheon committee, and participated in coffee cake baking.

In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting penguins, listening to music and bookkeeping. Joyce will always be remembered as a huge Cleveland Indians fan, she rarely missed a game, either on the radio or TV. She always liked being in the company of others and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Tim (Anita) and Mark (Deana) Claubaugh both of Sandusky; daughter, Polly Harder of Sandusky; 13 grandchildren, Melissa, Kirstyn, Jason, Ashley, Amanda, Bruce, Wendy, Bill, Bob, Rachel, Bryan, Tim and Leah; 21 great-grandchildren; cousins, Janice Farah, Lois Jean Gassan, Diane Brunner and Dennis Detlef; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Claubaugh on April 5, 1993.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, until funeral services at 11 a.m., at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 334 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with Rev. John Bok and Rev. Edgar Shelly presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
