The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at Christ United Presbyterian Church with Chaplain Bob Brown, officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
A son of the late Dolphus Blanton and Anna Marguerite (Tammen) Butler, he was born March 8, 1913. On August 17, 1940, he married Modena Lee Tarter in Walters, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death in 2006. He was a charter member of Christ United Presbyterian Church where served as an Elder and Deacon. He was a jack-of-all trades; he had worked as a farmer, a cowboy, construction, and as a groundskeeper at the State Hospital where he retired after many years.
In 2008, he received the Oldest Native Son Award at the Clay County Pioneer Reunion.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mylinda Sue Muse; eight brothers and sisters; and his granddaughter, Marci Brosch.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Harrell and husband Carroll; his brother, Claude Butler and wife Mary; five grandchildren, Teresa McCarthy and husband Jeff, Chris Harrell and wife Michelle, Mike Muse and wife Trina, Christi Strmiska and husband Greg, and Brandon Brosch; sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
