KATIE SHERMANTINE STEVENS, died on Friday, August 12 at the Asbury Methodist Home, in Gaithersburg. She was 92 years old. She was the widow of the late Alex Stevens of Hollywood, and the sister of Mrs. Helen Hayden from Asbury Methodist Home, Gaithersburg.
For many years Mrs. Stevens had been active in church work for the Ebenezer Church, Hollywood, and when Lexington Park Methodist Church was being founded, she solicited financial assistance for the building.
She was a teacher with the Board of Education, and taught in both Hollywood and California public schools. She was a faithful worker with the Red Cross, and widely known for her assistance in chartiable endeavors.
Prayers were said at Mattingley's Funeral Home, Leonardtown on Sunday, and she was buried in Ebenezer Church Cemetery on Tuesday, August 15.
