A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, June 25, 1999, in Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel in Vancouver, Wash., for William W. "Ward" Chipman, who died June 22 at age 75.

Mr. Chipman was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Halls, Tenn. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces. A Vancouver resident for 50 years, he was a welder for Beall Transliner for 25 years before retiring in 1989. In 1947, he married Ruby Reese; they divorced. He married Fern Jenkins in about 1963; she died in 1977. In 1997, he remarried Ruby; she died June 4.

Survivors include his sons, Marty and Ray, stepsons, Don Jenkins and Ken Jenkins, daughters, Linda Svir and Barbara Dvorak, and stepdaughter, Donna Rekstad, all of Vancouver; brother, Allen of Ridgefield, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Disposition was by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to Hospice Southwest.
