East Providence - Pedro Garedo, 53, of Rumford Towers South, 105 Newman Avenue, a driver for Canteen Caters of Cranston for 10 years before retiring in 1981, died Friday at Norwood Hospital, Norwood, MA. He was the husband of Kumiyo Y. Garedo. Born in Providence, a son of the late Juan and Clara (Clinton) Garedo, he lived in East Providence most of his life. Mr. Garedo previously managed a fruit stand in East Providence. He was a member of the Rumford Towers Tenants Association, and in charge of the senior citizen tour guides. Besides his wife, he leaves a son Giro P. Garedo of East Providence; two step-daughters, Charlene Farrands and Deborah Perez of Smithfield; six sisters, Barbara Shaw of Birmingham, Alabama, Delores Varella, Lola Willis, Juanita Johnson and Claire Montrond all of East Providence, and Anna Lowman of North Providence; three brothers, Juan Garedo of Providence, George and Robert Garedo of East Providence and three grand-children. He was a brother of the late Juanito Avant. The funeral will be held Friday at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church, Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. Burial will be in the Rumford Cemetery.
