Alfred was a substitute in the Civil War where he served in the Pennsylvania 126th Reg. in Co. H, under Brigardier General Erastus B. Tyler. Alfred Kent was wounded at Chancellorsville on May 3, 1863. He attained the rank of 3rd Sergeant. Due to exposure he developed complications from which he never regained his health and died shortly after returning to his family at the close of the war.
