Helen Elizabeth Eichner was born December 8, 1919 to Michael and Anna (Peschges) Burns in Dovray Township, Murray County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie, MN. Helen attended country school in Murray County.
On November 6, 1945 Helen married Donald Eichner in Westbrook, MN and they made their home on a farm in the Westbrook area until 1957, when they moved to the Morris and Benson, MN area. They retired from farming in 1995.
Following her husband's death in March of 2000, Helen moved back to Westbrook. While a resident of Benson, she was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and upon returning to Westbrook, she became a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. In addition to being a homemaker and helping on the farm, Helen was for a short time employed by Fingerhut. She also enjoyed crocheting, and spent many winter months in New Mexico visiting her daughter.
In June of 2011, Helen became a resident of the Colony of Eden Prairie Assisted Living in Eden Prairie, MN, where she died Friday, May 11, 2012 at the age of 92.
Helen is survived by her two daughters, LuJean (Peter) Iversen of Eden Prairie, MN and Marlene (George) Bollinger of Santa Teresa, NM; three grandchildren, Jason and Tony Iversen and Sarah (Chris) Morgel; two great grandsons, Jordan Guffam and Jacob Morgel; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Burns of Heron Lake, MN; two brothers-in-law, Darrell Eichner of Westbrook, MN and Dennis Liebfried of Ivanhoe, MN; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her husband, Donald, her parents, six sisters, Marguerite Cronin, Mary O'Brien, Leona Patterson, Laurene Bloch, Dorothy Liebfried and Alicia Burns and four brothers, John, Charlie, Raymond and George Burns preceded her in death.
