DEATH OF MARION L. BOHON
Marlon L. Bohon, one of Marion county's aged and prominent residents, died yesterday morning about 10 30 o'clock at his home on the old homestead in Round Grove township near Nelsonville where he was born 80 years ago and where he had spent his entire life. Although he had been confined to his bed for the past sixteen months, having suffered a slight stroke of paralysis, his death came very suddenly and it is believed that he had suffered a heat prostration.
A son of the late Reuben L. and Mary Ann Bohon, among the early and prominent pioneers to Marion county, Mr. Bohon was born December 10, 1853. He grew to young manhood on his father's farm and on September 3, 1882, he was married to Miss Alice Miller of the Nelsonville neighborhood. The young couple went to housekeeping on his father's farm and spent their entire married life there and reared their family. Mr. Bohon managed the farm up until about six years ago when his son, E. F. Bohon and wife moved there to make their home with his parents.
Mr. Bohon was a useful man in his community and his family name has long been connected with the history of Round Grove township and Western Marion county. He was a faithful member of the Benbow Presbyterian church and lived an examplary christian life which was an inspiration to all who knew him and with whom he came in contact. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alice Miller Bohon, a son, E. F. Bohon, who is employed in the composing room of the Hannibal Courier-Post, and one daughter, Mrs. Urban Chipman, of near Nelsonville. Another son, Harold Bohon, died at Fort Riley, Kansas, while enlisted as a soldier during the world war. He also leaves five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bohon was a member of a family of ten children, of which one brother survives, M. P. Bohon, of San Jose, Calif.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Benbow Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. T. S. Scott, of Philadelphia. Burial was in the Benbow cemetery.
