Private Vance M. PRESSLEY, #367066, was assigned to K Co., 3rd Bn., 5th MARINES, 1st Mar. Div., FMF. He was killed in action (KIA) on 14 September 1942. His body was recovered and he was buried in the 1st Mar. Cemetery on Guadalcanal. His remains were reinterred after the war to the United States. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
