Alvin Shepherd, Nevada, diedAlvin Roscoe Shepherd, 62, Nevada, died Thursday at the Story County Hospital.Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday from Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Marvin Hulse officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.Mr. Shepherd was born April 19, 1910, in Murray and he married Doris Draper in 1929. He had been a resident of Story County since 1950 and was employed by Iowa State University. In 1971 he married Susie Shepherd. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.Survivors include: his wife Susie; five daughters by his first marriage; Mrs. Marilyn Adam, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Patricia Jacobson, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Sharon Doty, Ames; Mrs. Carol Bennington, Elmore, Minn. and Mrs. Kathy Smith, Cedar Rapids; four sons by his first marriage: Donald and Alvin, both of Nevada; Larry, Denver, Colo. and David, Severence, Colo.; eight step-children by his second marriage; a brother, Kenneth of Los Angeles, Calif. and 22 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and sister.
