MARRIED.
McFADDEN—JOHNSON.—At the residence of the bride's parents, on Wednesday morning last, the 22nd inst., by the Rev. Mr. Richmond. Newton McFadden, proprietor of the Brainerd Drug Store and County Treasurer of Crow Wing County; to Miss Julia K. Johnson, daughter of P. K. Johnson, of Mankato, Minn. No cards.
Mr. and Mrs. McFadden took the train immediately after the ceremony for Minneapolis, where the day was passed pleasantly; thence they went by rail to Duluth, where half a day was spent in calling upon friends, when they turned their steps homeward, arriving here by last evening's train. The were were met at the depot by a large number of friends, who gladly welcomed them to their future home and upon the new life they had just entered, and then escorted them to the residence of Mr. McFadden where a happy surprise awaited them, a very pleasant little social banquet, to which a number of intimate friends had been invited, and where at the proper time they were made the recipients of a rich and beautiful gift at the hands of the young men of our city—Mr. McFadden's bachelor associates—in the form of a complete silver set. Mr. McFadden at the time was scarcely able to express his feelings of surprise at being thus remembered but said he did not know he had so many friends.
A happy couple well established, may their journey together through life be all that its pleasant opening provides and their children grow up to call them blessed, is the humble desire of the BRAINERD TRIBUNE. (Brainerd Tribune, 25 August 1877, p. 1, c. 6)
The lawn party given by Mrs. N. McFadden and Mrs. Fannie Smith at their homes, the grounds of which adjoin, on Friday evening of last week was one of the most pleasant occasions of the season. The grounds were illuminated and many enjoyed dancing, a platform having been erected on the lawn for that purpose, music for the occasion being furnished by Whitford's orchestra, and cards were also indulged in. Refreshments were served at 11 o'clock. (Brainerd Dispatch, 30 August 1895, p. 4, c. 4)
A party consisting of Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. George Ames, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Wieland, Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Ingersoll, Mrs. Fannie E. Smith, Mrs. Julia McFadden, Leon E. Lum and C. C. Kyle, enjoyed the evening at the Gull Lake Club house on Tuesday, returning by moonlight. (Brainerd Dispatch, 24 November 1899, p. 8, c. 1)
