HIGH POINT – Mrs. Josephine Scott Atkinson, 81, resident of Mocksville, died May 12th, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
Mrs. Atkinson was born April 2nd, 1931 in Max Meadows, VA, a daughter to the late Marvin and Maggie Dean Ogle. A resident of this area most of her life, she was a homemaker but had also owned and operated Scotts Kenco Service Station. She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, attended Trindale Community Church and most recently attended Redland Pentecostal Holiness Church in Advance. Her first husband, Charlie Scott and second husband, Cecil Atkinson, both preceded her in death.
Surviving are four daughters, Marlene Farlow and husband Don of High Point, Debbie Lowder and husband Tommy of Mocksville, Sue Truett and husband Ricky of Stokesdale and Ann Grayson of High Point; two sons, Randy Scott and wife Jeanie of Thomasville and Frankie Scott and wife Teena of High Point; three sisters, Opal Powers and husband Allen of Pulaski, VA, Wanda Riggins and husband J.B. of Pulaski, VA and Lorrine Eure of High Point; two brothers, Elroy Ogle and wife Bea of Pulaski, VA and Garry Ogle of Max Meadows, VA; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Garrol Ogle of Max Meadows, VA.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Rev. Jonathan Hill and Rev. Marion Poythress officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery with Tim Doss officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, 6011 Checker Rd. High Point. Memorials may be directed to Kate B.
