Died, at 6:10 o'clock, Saturday evening, Feb. 26, 1916, at the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home at Quincy, after two weeks' illness of heart trouble, Stephen T. Crissey, aged 89 years. Mr. Crissey, who resided at 2223 South Tenth street, this city, was taken to the home February 5. His wife was with him at the time of his death.

The decedent came to Springfield sixty-seven years ago from Bates Station, sixteen miles southwest of this city. For twenty years he conducted a nursery on the Jacksonville road just west of Washington park. Mr. Crissey was born in Chester county, Pennsylvania, and came to Bates when sixteen years of age. He remained there for five years coming to Springfield when twenty-one years old.

Mr. Crissey is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma J. Crissey; one sister, Mrs. Hatty of Springfield; one son, Warren W. Crissey of Jacksonville; three daughters, Mrs. George Henze of the state of Washington, Mrs. Harry Rowntree and Mrs. Frank Williams of Springfield; and seventeen grandchildren.

Mr. Crissey enlisted in the 180th Illinois Infantry and fought in the Civil War.

The funeral was held at the Old Soldiers' and Sailors' Home in Quincy. Burial was in the National cemetery in Quincy.
