IN MEMORIUM:
All visitors to west Baden Springs during the last two seasons remember with pleasure the bright smiles and amiable disposition of little Laura Braden, daughter of one of the proprietors of that famous resort. Last fall Dr. Braden with his family moved to Walla Walla, Washington Territory, and yesterday the editor of this paper received a letter from his wife, Mrs. Braden, conveying the sad intelligence of the death of her daughter Laura. She was taken sick a few weeks after their arrival at that place with typhoid fever, and after lingering for seven weeks, died on the 11th instant. She was 10 years old, the 8th of last month. But few children of that age possessed so many of the noble qualities that endeared them to the heart of relatives and friends as did little Laura Braden. At the springs she was a favorite with all visitors, and her self-sacrificing disposition in entertaining the many children was remarked by all. She was an unusually bright child and her death has saddened many a heart and left a vacancy in the home circle that cannot be filled. Her bright form of human beauty has been taken from our view, but the precious memory of her pure and spotless life is still left, together with that alluring hope that there is a realm where the rainbow never fades and where the beautiful beings that here pass before us like shadows, will stay in our presence forever.
