Raymond Carroll, 83, of Senath, MO., died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at St. Bernard's Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR. On June 25, 1941, in Arbyrd, MO., he married Betty Thomas, who survives. Born Nov. 28, 1925, in Cardwell, MO, son of the late Bruce Carroll and Eunice Haneline Carroll, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WW II. He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Mr. Carroll and his wife operated a grocery store located in their home next to the Senath High School for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll were longtime members of the First Baptist Church in Senath. Survivors include his wife, Betty Carroll, of Senath; two sons, Danny Carroll and wife, Dana, of Springfield, MO, and Lyman Carroll and wife, Sandy, of Hot Springs Village, AR; two daughters, Frances Gates, of Reno, NV, and Cheryl Carty and husband, Terry, of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren; seven great-granchildren and many other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Alien Jones, Wilma Ferrell, and Laverne Williams. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, Dec. 15, at the First Baptist Church in Senath with Rev. Dale Rickman officiating, assisted by Rev. Kevin Sullivan. Burial was in the Senath Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Carroll, Josh Carroll, Dennis Thomas, Joe Thomas, Terry Carty, and Adam Carty. McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.
