In the 1880 census, he lived in Oak Ridge, NC, and was a farmer. The following children were living with the family at the time: Rufus-20, Marcellus-18, Seymour-14, Beula-11, Anna-9, Ellen-7, Callie-4, and Claudia-2. John Ruffin Jeffreys was also a son. (Note: There was also a Newton Jeffreys living in Michigan in the 1930 census who was born in NC. Could he be related???)
