Bertie Evelyn Hornor, 100, of 245 Main Avenue Weston, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, in Lorain, OH, following a sudden illness.
She was born in Roanoke, WV, on September 23, 1911, daughter of the late Gilbert Bowyer and Estella (Taylor) Bowyer. On April 16, 1938, she married William L. Hornor, who preceded her in death on May 4, 1994.
Mrs. Hornor is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Bill) Trimmer and Martha Smith; one grandson, Brandon William (Angel) Trimmer and one great-grandchild, Atreyu Malaki Trimmer. She is also survived by one son-in-law, Charles Popovich; two sister-in-laws, Mary K. Hall and Marilee Hornor and several nieces and nephews. She was also blessed with special friends, Dick and Jean Bean and Steve and Nancy Colburn.
In addition to her parents and husband, William, Mrs. Hornor was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Popovich: one son, William L. Hornor, Jr.; one brother, Dayton Bowyer and two sisters, Mabel Bowyer and Georgia McClung.
Mrs. Hornor was a retired teacher and worked for 20 years at J. C. Penny's Company. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston. She was an avid bird watcher and loved flowers. Family was number one in her life. Mrs. Hornor was the last member of her immediate family.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Jonathan Nettles officiating.
