Bill Sharpe, 59, a lifelong entrepreneur and longtime community advocate, was president of Tampa Marketing Co., publisher of the South Tampa Community News, and founder and publisher of Tampa EPOCH, a monthly publication that provided a source of income for the homeless. A voracious reader and zealous political advocate, former chairman of the Pinellas Co. Democratic Party, a president of the Davis Islands Chamber of Commerce in Tampa, among many other offices. Known for organizing numerous fundraising events that benefited community causes from pets to people. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed canoeing, bikeriding, and hiking as well as organizing Ghost Watching tours. His numerous friends agreed that "he is remembered as a man of many dreams and a soft heart. His vision was always more than his reality. Everyone he met was his friend."
