Robert was born March, 7, 1951, in Petoskey, the son of Robert James and Helen (Stanek) Anzell. On Dec. 11, 1987, in Bellaire, MI, he married Deanna Hughey McDade.

Robert grew up in Boyne City and graduated from Boyne City High School in 1969. He was an excellent athlete and student, courted by the Minnesota Twins for baseball and the University of Nebraska for football. He chose to attend Hillsdale College on an academic scholarship and eventually returned to the Boyne City area.

Robert had worked at Dura Automotive in East Jordan for 25 years until 2001. He then worked for Cooper Standard in Gaylord. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 1503 in East Jordan and Local 388 in Gaylord. Robert was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Boyne City and was a very passionate fisherman.
