She was the daughter of the late Freda Louise Winton Elliott and a member of the Ephesus Church of Christ.
Salutatorian of the 2004 graduating class of Mt. Pleasant High School, she had been accepted as a member of the Freshman Class at Freed-Hardeman University.
An outstanding student during four years at Mt. Pleasant High School, her activities included membership in Future Farmers of America; Business Professionals of America; Interact Club; Beta Club; Band; Who’s Who, grades 9 through 12; Senior Salutatorian; National Honor Roll; Freshman Algebra I Math Team; Freshman FFA Star Greenhand Award; Star Chapter as a Sophomore; elected to Girls State as a Junior; Most Improved as a Junior and Senior; elected Most Likely to Succeed in Senior Class; State Finalist in Business Professionals of America Public Speaking Contest as a Sophomore and Senior, placing second in State; selected to First Farmers & Merchants National Bank Student Advisory Board as a Senior; also as a Senior, member of the Tennessee Tech University Honor Band and MTSU Honor Band.
She is survived by a brother, Seth Thomas Elliott of Culleoka; maternal grandparents, Bobby L. and Marie Medley Winton of Manchester; maternal great-grandmother, Winnie Winter of Manchester; paternal grandmother, Ruby Elliott of Winchester.
Rachel was shot by her father while trying to protect her mother. She was too young to go and had such a bright future. You will always be remembered.
