Services for Russell W. Bergen, 60, of 918 Englewood Avenue 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery with military rites by Becker-Chapman Post 138 of the American Legion and Waterloo Post 1623 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He died Tuesday morning, August 29, at Covenant Medical Center at West Ninth Street after a lengthy illness.

He was born August 13, 1929 in Waterloo, son of Gerald Ward and Sarah Almeda Davis Bergen. He married LaVera E. Pavelec on May 28, 1959 in Tripoli.

He was a graduate of Gates Business College and was manager of Gifford-Brown Inc. for 16 years. He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to 1957.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Brad Allan of Waterloo; two brothers, Norman of Waterloo, and Darrell of Widefield, Colorado; and one sister, Joann Anderson of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi.

Visitation at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home from noon to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
