Promoted Quartermaster Sergeant Oct. 1, 1861;
Second Lieutenant of company K Feb. 5, 1862.
Resigned Oct. 23, 1862, Memphis, Tenn.

Appointed Adjutant 8th Iowa Cavalry Sept. 10, 1863. Mustered Sept. 30, 1863.

Promoted Second Battalion Major May 14, 1864.

Taken prisoner July 30, 1864, Newnan, Ga.

Died of disease April 6, 1865, South Bend, Ind.
while on his way home.
