Charles S. Wright, former superintendent of Union Free Schools, District 15, serving the Woodmere area, died here yesterday at his home, 132 Irving Place. Since retiring in 1935 after 11 years at the post he had served as a commissioner of this Nassau County Civil Service Commission.
Mr. Wright was born in Preble, New York. After graduating from the Cortland State Teachers College, Cortland, New York in 1895, he took post-gradate work at New York University. He taught at Willet, New York, and then became a member of the faculty of the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. In 1900 he was appointed principal of the Woodmere public schools and in 1924 became district superintendent.
He was a member of the vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church, Hewlett; a director of the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Bank of Lawrence and a member of the New York City Schoolmasters Club. He formerly had served as president of the Association of New York State Superintendents.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at Trinity Episcopal Church, Hewlett. Burial will be in Preble.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Cora Bull Wright, and two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Davidson and Mrs. Hope Babcock, both of Woodmere.
