Johanna's birth was recorded in the parish of Börringe, Genarp, Malmöhus, Sweden. She was the first of her family to come to America. She sailed from Liverpool, England on May 16, 1861 on the Monarch of the Sea and arrived in New York, NY on June 16, 1861. Her younger brother Nels and her parents came later.
Johanna came to Utah with one of the wagon trains in the summer of 1862. She worked in the home of Brigham Young. She married Christopher Jensen Anderson on 24 January 1883. They lived in the house that is in Liberty Park, Salt Lake Ci ty and they ran the flour mill there. She died giving birth to her youngest child who didn't live. She and Chris had six children who lived: Christopher Joseph Albert Anderson; Johanna Josephine Anderson Williams; James Anderson; Emily Anderson Jones; Amanda Andersen; Hyrum Anderson.
