William married Mary Polly Huff on 7 Dec 1858 in Collin County, Texas. They were the parents of seven children: William David, James Ervin, Laura May, Doris Belle, Charles B., Rosa Lee, Mary Lillian.
William served in the Confederate army during the Civil War - Company "K" 6th Texas Calvary from Feb 1862 to the end of the war.
William died on 3 July 1920 at Orr, Love County, Oklahoma. According to granddaughter who was at his funeral, he was buried in the Reck Cemetery but NO headstone survives.
