Eight of their dozen children lived to adulthood.
In 1876, on April 27 when Amanda passed away, their youngest was only 6.
1876, August 13, in Spencer, Clay County, Iowa, Peter re-married to Mrs. Mary A. Pease when he was 52 and she was 42.

-- On Saturday night occurred the death of Mr. Hamilton, who had been residing at the home of Peter Barringer. His remains were late to rest Sunday afternoon. The sympathy of all is extended to the remaining relatives.
