George Daniel was baptized at Hoffman's Church, in Lykens Valley, Upper Paxtang Twp., Dauphin County, PA, on July 1, 1796, but born in 1795. Sponsors at his baptism were George Buffington and his wife, Barbara (Hoffman) Buffington, who was Daniel's aunt. "Daniel" enlisted to serve in the War of 1812 at age 16 at Gratz, Dauphin County, PA. In later life he became Justice of the Peace in and around Fishersville, Jackson Twp., Dauphin County, PA. Daniel is named as head of household in the 1850 US PA census records, residing in Halifax Township, Dauphin County. He lists his age in this census as 53 years, and farming as his occupation. His property is valued at $5,000. His wife Susannah is listed, and there is one son, Charles W. noted as well. In the 1870 US PA census he is again listed as residing in Halifax Twp., with his wife Susannah. His age is noted as 73. Living with him and his wife Susannah are three of his grandchildren (of deceased daughter Amelia): Peter Lyter age 19, Ellen Lyter age 17, and Caroline Lyter age 13. Daniel's real-estate property is valued at $8,290., and his personal property at $1,000.
