Mary was born September 26, 1918, in Copeland, New Mexico to Mary (Hardy) and H.E. Vincent. She was the sixth of seven children. When she was five, the family moved to Elk City, Oklahoma, to farm. She resided there until she married Glen L. "Shorty" Hogan in 1936.
Shorty was a radio entertainer from Springfield, MO and was traveling through Elk City with a band when they met. They returned to Springfield where they settled and worked for KWTO. After the births of their children, they formed a family act and traveled and entertained as The Bell Family for many years. After retiring from "show business", Mary and Shorty owned Hogan's Grandview Nursery in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mary loved life and had a wonderful personality and sense of humor. She moved to St. Joseph in 1996, and married Otis Brooks, a lifelong friend.
She loved the Lord and was a member of Riverside Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her husbands Glen and Otis; her parents; brother Bethel and five sister; Ethel, Ruby, Viola, Lillian, Velma and several nieces and nephews.
She spoke much about "going home" to be with Jesus and her many loved ones who have gone before her. She will be missed.
