Died accidentally of asphyxiation when a gas jet was left open on a kitchen stove. Frank had been discharged from the Army on January 26 and had stopped in Grand Island at his mother's house when the accident occurred during the night. The neighbors broke into the house on the morning of February 19 and found him dead in bed.

Double funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Dorothy Stobbe and her son, Frank Stobbe, who met death as the result of asphyxiation on Monday night last, were held yesterday afternoon at two o'clock, from the German Lutheran church on East Second street. Rev. Wilkins conducted the services. Six members of the local organization of Home Guards officiated as pallbearers for Frank Stobbe, who was recently discharged from the service.
