On Feb. 22, 1872 he married Mrs. Martha J. (Doughty) Earl in Olmsted County, Minnesota. They resided in Cottonwood County where daughter, Dorothea Daisy, was born. A few years later they moved to Wisconsin where four more daughters were born: Lucy Jennette, Mabel Louisa, Maude Lynn, and Edna Estella "Margaret."
In 1897 Alonzo went to live at the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Records indicate that he was blind in the left eye due to an injury incurred while a soldier in the Civil War, also suffering from rheumatism brought on by exposure. A few years later, Alonzo returned to Minnesota, dying in Minneapolis in 1907.
