Julius E. Roberts died at 10:40 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 1977, at East Jefferson Hospital, Metairie. He retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, having received the War Department Exceptional Civilian Service Medal for oustanding service as Sector Chief, New Orleans Engineer District during the all-time record flood of the Red River from March 3 to May 31, 1945. He spent his entire career working for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Mississippi River Delta. He was the chief supervisor for the construction of the Mississippi River Levee from Natchez, Mississippi, to Morgan City, Louisiana. He was a past master of the Acacia Lodge No. 116 F&AM Consistory, master of Grand Cross of Color, past district deputy grand master A&A Scottish Right, Baton Rouge, Jerusalem Temple. He was a past lockmaster for the Plaquemine Locks. Member of the Atchafalaya Levee Board for 23 years.
