MRS. MARY ACKERMAN SUCCUMBS
One of the older and most highly respected women of Loogootee and vicinity was removed by the passing of Mrs. Mary Ann Ackerman, at 10:30 o'clock last Saturday night, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Larkin, 300 Washington Ave., where she had resided since the death of her husband on September 11, 1934.

Mrs. Ackerman was a native of Barr township, Daviess County, and was born October 31, 1862, a daughter of Hilary and Rose Ellen (Smith) McAtee. She and Mr. Ackerman were married May 29, 1881. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1931.

Mrs. Ackerman and her husband had been prominently identified with business and civic interests of this community during their long residence here and through these years of contact the deceased had made hundreds of friends who mourn her departure. Mrs. Ackerman had been in poor health for more than a year and was seriously ill for the past six weeks. She was prominently identified with St. John's Catholic congregation and was the church organist for about 45 years. She was also a member of the Rosary society of the parish.

Surviving children are Isom Ackerman, Dr. B.A. Ackerman and Mrs. Lorena Larkin at whose home she died. A daughter Aurelia died in infancy.

Other surviving relatives are 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one brother, Joseph M. McAtee who resides in Indianapolis.

Requiem High Mass was read in St. John Catholic church, Tuesday morning at 9:00 o'clock, followed by interment in St. John cemetery.

...The high esteem in which Mrs. Ackerman and her family are held, was reflected by the legion of friends who paid their last respects, and the wealth of spiritual and floral offerings given.
