He married Joycelyn Pedersen on October 23, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and they are the parents of five children.
He was a salesman by trade calling on grocery stores around the intermountain area for almost thirty years and was a former president of the Salt Lake Jaycees. Longtime residents of Bountiful, Cal and Joyce served in the Bountiful LDS Temple before they moved to West Valley City in 2004 to a home without stairs which provided less obstacles for aging bodies. At the time of his death, Cal was a high priest in the Hunter Village Ward. His family shall ever be grateful for the many friends and neighbors they have come to love in the Hunter Villas whose acts for friendship and service have made the last few years a tender delight. A special loving place in his family's collective heart has been created for those of Symbii Hospice. . . who made his last weeks so comfortable.
He is survived by his wife, Joycelyn; his five children and their spouses; sixteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law Clare Higgins Dahlquist; and four grandchildren, Rebekah, Jenny, Ryan, and Sean Dahlquist.
