BESSEMER CITY - Billy Joe Parton Sr., 57, passed away Jan. 7, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia.
He was born March 2, 1954, in Gastonia, son of the late William and Annie Bell Helms Parton.
His memorial service was held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Fellowship Holiness Church of God, Goble St., Gastonia, officiated by the Revs. Jason Moore and David Parton.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 41 years, Sandra Parton; sons and daughters in-law, Billy and Carla Parton, Robby and Beth Parton, Kenny Parton, Tony Tompkins; daughters and son in-law, Rita and Tony Wilson, Beverly Parton, Karen Parton, Maria Hudson; brother and sister in-law, Rev. David Parton and Vickie; sister, Lola Faye McDonald; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; furry companions, Andy, Gypsy and Baby; numerous nieces and nephews; friend, Lynn Bridges.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: granddaughter, Seyaira Odums; brothers, Jimmy and Robert Parton; sisters, Mildred Patterson, Gloria Nivens, Ellen "Bertie" Bolin, Doris Parton, Louise Parton.
