Charles Brough was the son of Simon Brough and Mary Sarah Carrick.

Charles and Mary Brough lived in Jerusalem near Curtice. They made land tile on the Seaman Road. There was a pond of water where the tile factory was located. The pond was known as the 'old tile yard' for years. Charles and Mary belonged to the Methodist Church, Clay Chapel in Momenee. They helped build Clay Chapel Church.

Charles and Mary had children: Lyman, Emmaline, Betsy, George, Mattie, Thomas, and Albert.
