Dr. Ronnie Bishop and Reverend Dennis Campbell will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. A musical tribute will be offered by Martha Rogers Tisdale and Gwen Keys Hitt.
Billy M. King- Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins is in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Lee Speed, Wint McGee, Brian Bailey, Tommy Bott Rogers, Joseph Jordan, and Joe Speed.
Mrs. Speed, a Covington County native, was foremost a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Having taught piano and violin lessons for years, she also worked for the Rural Electric Power Association and in the family
business of Rogers & Speed Distributors. Mrs. Speed was a member of the Salem Baptist Church where she was the church pianist for over sixty years and the director of the Young Adult Sunday School Class. She was an active member of the Mary Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, a founding member of the Collins Garden Club, the last living charter member of
the Shadrack Rogers Daughters of American Revolution, and a member of the Colonial Dames.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Capp Charles Rogers and Minnie Alma Burkett Rogers; and her husband, Winston C. Speed.
Survivors include one son, Roger Burkett Speed, and his wife, Dianne of Collins; one daughter, Jane Speed McGee, and her husband, Gene of Ridgeland; five grandchildren, Lee Speed (Donna), Burke Speed (Carroll), Anne Speed, Karie Bailey (Brian), and Wint McGee (Allison); thirteen great-grandchildren, Austin Peden, Lauren Peden, Erin Speed, Rob Speed, Avery Speed, Zachary Speed, Thomas
Bailey, Sarah Bailey, Grace Bailey, Tyler McGee, Landon McGee, Lake McGee, and Cruz McGee; and a host of other family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Salem Baptist Church.
