"Richard" was born to RICHARD "LEE" LEWIS and EUNICE MAE PADRICK LEWIS on a cotton mill village in Kinston, NC. He worked in the masonry and carpentry industry. He was also a volunteer firefighter of many years serving with Kinston, Hampstead and Scotts-Hill fire departments throughout his life time. He also enjoyed fishing with his brothers Bryan and Zealy and his sons Lee and Gregory. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Dunn Lewis; sons, Lee Marshall Lewis and spouse Julie of Kansas and Gregory Lanyer Lewis of Wilmington; granddaughter Katlyn Lewis and grandson Eric Lewis both of Kansas. He was followed in death by his siblings, EUNICE LEWIS
CHRISTIANA LEWIS FOY ; ROSA LEE LEWIS MOFFITT ; MATTIE SUSAN LEWIS ; MARY ELIZABETH "TOOTS" LEWIS RYAN
and husband Eddie; KATHERINE MAE LEWIS ; BRYAN CLIFTON LEWIS, SR. and wife GLENNIE M. MANNING LEWIS ; WHITLEY LEWIS ; ZEALY M. "MARSHGRASS" LEWIS, SR. . He is also survived by his brother Ralph Donald Lewis, 15 nieces and nephews; 18 great nieces and nephews and 1 great-great niece. Richard was a kind and generous person. He was funny and comical, always making everyone laugh. He is loved and deeply missed.

Cause of death: Fatal heart attack at home.
