"Robert A. Parce, who for 24 years operated a general store at Orton and Jerome Avenues, died yesterday morning at his home, 6 Cary Street. He was 79. Mr. Parce had been suffering a heart ailment for several months, and died in his sleep. He had lived in Binghamton for 62 years. Mr Parce came here from Jordan, N. Y., to take a job with the old James Scale Works in 1888 ... Mr. Parce was born in Berkshire. He was a member of the Maccabees and the First Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Ida May Butler, whom he married in 1895; six children, Mrs. Frank Croft, Mrs. Harry Fister, Paul B. Parce, Mrs. William Dolph and Carlton R. Parce, all of Binghamton, and DeForest F. Parce of Oneonta; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Strong of Binghamton and Mrs. Adelaide Barker of Jordan ... Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park."
