Sharon, Mass. - Steven C. Ash, 38, died at Avery Manor in Needham, Mass., on Monday, April 23, 2012.
Born in Groton on Jan. 25, 1974, he graduated from Robert E. Fitch High School with the class of 1992.
He graduated from College Misericordia in Dallas, Pa. in 1996 and later earned his Ph.D at Brown University in 2008.
He has been a resident of Sharon, Mass. since 2006 moving there from Connecticut.
Mr. Ash was a research doctor in the field of pharmaceuticals. He attended Shepherd of the Sea Navy Chapel in Groton, growing up and most recently was a communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Sharon, Mass. Mr. Ash was an Eagle Scout and served on the board and was a volunteer for the June Norcross Webster Scout Reservation in Ashford. He also volunteered with the Boys Scouts in Sharon, Mass. He enjoyed traveling, playing basketball, and working out.
He was the devoted son of Sandra (Rowe) Ash of Groton, and the late James Ash; loving brother of Brian Ash and his wife, Stephanie, of Mystic; and cherished uncle of Owen, Sophie, and Isabelle.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, that will be held in Saint Edmund's Retreat Center, Enders Island, Mystic. Visiting hours and interment are private.
